Retrieval of "Yahoo! Mail" with the Psion Email application

To retrieve "Yahoo! Mail" from their POP3 server with the Psion Email application you must (in addition to having a Yahoo! account) sign up for "POP Mail and Forwarding".

To sign up, login to "Mail" on Yahoo's website and click the 'Options' button at the top of the page.

On the Options page, in the second column headed "Mail Management", click on the "POP access and Forwarding" link which is the bottom one. You will then go to a page headed - "Free Mail Forwarding and POP Access". Move down to 'Sign Up' and click the Yes button. The 'Interests' bit is a matter of choice but I ticked the box for "Only send me offers for categories I select below" and left all of the categories unticked! Click "Finished".

The next page lets you select (Step 1) either "Web and POP Access" or "Forwarding" - click the option for Web and POP. In Step 2, select "Text messages only" for use with the Psion's Email application. Click the "Submit" button.

Finally a page with the mail settings is displayed from which you will see all of the settings (apart from your Password) required for configuring the Psion's Email application.

For UK users, the mail server addresses are:

Incoming Mail (POP3) Server - pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk
Outgoing mail (SMTP) Server - smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk

Yahoo introduced SMTP Authentication as a requirement for using their server to send mail. Have a look at the file relating to SMTP Authentication with the Psion's Email application. (I have not tested SMTPAuth with yahoo.)
