GPRS settings for T68, 5mx and Orange

 
Firstly, set up your GPRS Data Account in your GPRS phone.

[You can use your GPRS WAP 'Data account' to access email
and web.]

Create a data account by entering the following under your
phone's Data Account settings (for Orange UK only):

APN: orangeinternet
User id: (blank)
Password: (blank)
IP Address: (blank)
DNS Address: 158.43.128.1

(Note the CID number of your newly created data account.)


Secondly, set up the modem and internet settings in the Psion:

Modem tab
Name: T68 GPRS
Speed: 115200
Connect via: Infrared
Fax Class: 1

Options tab
Loudspeaker in use: Never
Volume: Medium
Pause time for ",": 4 seconds

Initialisation tab
Init (reset) string: ATZ
Data init string: (blank)
Fax init string: (blank)

Advanced tab
Flow Control: Hardware (RTS/CTS)
Termial detect (DSR/DTR): [X] Checked
Carrier detect (DCD): [X] Checked
Modem type: Mobile
(try changing to Fixed line if you are having problems)



"Control Panel / Internet" settings

Service tab
Name: Orange GPRS
Connection Type: Dial up
Use Smart dialing: [ ] unchecked
Standard dialup number: *99***n#
(n indicates your CID number)

Account tab
Manual login [X] checked
(The Psion won't let you use a blank username & password)

Address tab
Get IP address from server: [X] Checked
Get DNS address from server: [ ]Unchecked
Primary DNS address: 158.43.192.1 (Orange UK only)
Secondary DNS address: 158.43.128.1

Advanced tab
Enable PPP extensions: [X] Checked
Allow plain text authentication: [X] Checked
