Connecting a "Hayes compatible" external modem to your Psion
To connect an
external modem to your Psion, you require:
1) The PsiWin Serial cable
3a - the "3Link"
2) Null Modem adaptor *(see note below)
3) Gender changer
4) Depending on the connector on your modem, a 9-pin to 25-pin serial adaptor.
Psion produce the "Psion Modem Adaptor" which replaces items 2, 3 & 4 above.
Cost is about ten pounds in the UK and it can be obtained from Clove Technology
or Widget Software.

Optionally, a "non-Null Modem" lead to go directly between the Psion (exept 3a & Revo) and the modem can be obtained from www.serialleads.co.uk
Normally, when connecting an external modem
with the PsiWin cable, you should disable "Carrier Detect (DCD)" in the modem
settings.
*Note: It is important to use a null modem adaptor which has all pins connected.
Some generic adaptors / cables intended for PC use do not have all pins
connected and will not work with the Psion.
